Celebrate a special first birthday!
I have all these ideas and about half the money to do it. Wait, none
of the money to do it so I’m going to try to plan his party invites and
all for under $200.00. That will include everything from the food to the
decorations to the gift. I will use coupons, pinterest, my sweet ways,
craigslist, freecycle, bartering, and someone else’s money, lol, to get
my son’s birthday planned and put together.
I was thinking that this would be my splurge but now I’m thinking
that I must remain disciplined. This year is not a joke. This year
cannot be a pick and choose year where I pick one thing to follow and
not the other thing. Nope. I have to learn how to give him my best when
my best is on a budget so let’s see what I can come up with.
I will have the party here at home unless a free space is offered.
I have a few ideas on pinterest that I may share along the way.
I have a certificate to JC Penny and a giftcard to Macy’s. I’ll use of them and get him either a cute outfit or a birthday toy.
I have the ability to craft so so that will not go unused.
I have the unlimited resources of the internet. I am in the process
of posting on freecycle for birthday related items. I’m interested in
seeing if I get anything in return.
I hope it works. I already have a few ideas.
I
am going to photograph him for the invites myself. Instead of going all
out right now, I'm going to do a save the date type of thing, get them
printed at CVS and mail them out. To pay for it, I think I'm going to
use CVS ExtraCare bucks as soon as I can get a good enough deal going.
That's step one. With less than a month to go, I need this step done and
the cards mailed by the end of the weekend.
Wish me luck!

Happy New Year!
Ok, wow. It has been so long but isn't it appropriate that a new year would bring me back. I have a new computer and I am ready.
I saw these deal posted on a coupon blog that I follow and since I love good deals, I figured I would pass this along to anyone interested.
This set retails for $79.99 (on sale for 69.99) at Step2 but is on sale for 15.00 at JCPenney.
I used Ebates for 3% back (useShopathome.com for 9% I'm told ) and this promo and validation code to save 15% at checkout:
Promo Code: SURDEC11
Validation Code: 301225579
The set came down to 12.75, tax 1.36 and shipping 5.99 for a total of $20.10. A pretty good savings.
Since the price is really low, I'm being cautious but so far so good.
J has older cousins who will be able to use the set when they come over now but for the most part I'm saving it for him to use later. It's adorable!
And speaking of adorable:
You can get a free card from cardstore.com using the code MCSFREE112.
Can you guess who the above card will go to?
